Through discussions with group members in the second week and an independent study on the website, I gained a preliminary understanding of the topic of Personal Digital Identity vs Professional Digital Identity. I wanted to share my thoughts with the group.
Through my data collection and understanding of the team members, I learned that most of the students use digital platforms such as Zoom, Facebook, AWS, and Microsoft to develop their professional networks, through which they communicate and systematically study and research. As students, we must be aware of our privacy and what we say on the Internet while expanding our professional networks. Although the Internet is a social platform where people can discuss things they are interested in. However, at the same time, people should be careful not to blindly follow the trend, because online violence can cause great psychological damage to a person. Excessive misrepresentation can also eventually lead to jail time. The next thing we need to be aware of is privacy and security in the digital space. While gaining knowledge and growth, we should not reveal too much personal information in the virtual network, or one may endanger one’s property security or even seriously may have a life threat.
Data privacy and security have many implications for PLN, including the positive impact of protecting the security of learners’ information accounts and personal safety. The use of virtual phone numbers can also protect personal privacy when necessary. In addition to this, it can prevent some criminal groups from committing fraud. For example, I am an international student, so I sometimes receive calls about customs seizures of packages, which are fraudulent calls. If you do enough privacy when you need to fill in your phone number or address, you can avoid these unnecessary disturbances and avoid being scammed. In addition, compromising the privacy and security of PLN’s data can cause a credit crisis for the user. Of course, data security can also bring some restrictions to PLN. For example, sometimes, when people log in to some websites to learn, they must log in to their account to be able to browse, and if they forget their password, the tedious operation will bring great inconvenience to people.
